Every year on 29 April Dance Day is celebrated all over the world by many millions of dancers. Established in 1982 by CID: www.danceday.cid-portal.org
- Global Dance Directory
Since 1999, an online database with more than 300,000 addresses from 200 countries, constantly updated: www.cid-portal.org
- UNESCO projects
Within its formal relations with UNESCO, CID carries out projects financed by UNESCO under its various programs. CID also carries out common projects with other NGOs partners of UNESCO.
Members and 100,000 other dance professionals are informed monthly on scholarships, grants, invitations to perform, conferences, calls for papers (research reports), publications, festivals, competitions and other opportunities of multi-national scope.
- Virtual Library
Books, magazines, articles and DVDs authored or edited by CID members are listed in a website. Thus they can be obtained directly from the authors, at a reduced price. http://Writings.orchesis-portal.org
- Dance Research Congresses
Congress with strict specifications, the largest in the world of dance: on average 400 specialists from 30 countries attend each congress; 50 congresses since 1987. Combined with a trade fair where choreographers, teachers, researchers and suppliers of dance-related products can showcase their work: www.cid-portal.org/cdr
- International Congresses
They have the general theme "Dance in the World Today", attracting dance professionals from about 20 countries each time. Past venues include: Belgrade, Corfu, Istanbul, London, Montevideo, New York, Nicosia, Novosibirsk, Ohrid, Paris, Pyongyang, Seoul, Sevilla, Skopje, Urgup.
- Dancers without Frontiers
Exchange of visits among choreographers, educators, companies, researchers in different countries. About 50 exchanges a year since 1990.
- Dance History Gallery
Series of DVDs with works of art on dance. Archive containing more than 15,000 images, over 20,000 vintage photographs etc.
- Dance History Sources
An archive containing texts and pictures relative to dance before 1900, in several languages. Issued as a series of books and albums, and as a large portal serving the needs of the global dance community in historical material covering all forms of dance from ballet to butoh, from bamba to belly dance.
Festivals or competitions of choreographies on video or DVD; entries from about 50 countries. Since 1988.
- Dance in Poetry
Collection of poems on dance in various languages. Several anthologies have been published as books; they include works by great poets in English, in French, in Spanish and other languages. Also published as eBooks and websites.
- Dance on Postage Stamps
Encouraging young dancers to collect postage stamps depicting dance. A global catalogue has been published; it has been awarded medals in 7 international philatelic exhibitions. http://stamps-programs.orchesis-portal.org
- Dance Writings
A library of texts (books articles, excerpts, DVDs) fostering dance research.
- Dance and Spirituality
Linking the theory and practice of dance with every form of spiritual quest. Meetings, festivals, performances, workshops, classes, choreographies, publications, websites etc.
- Certification of Dance Studies
A certificate is issued for every 150 hours of instruction in a given form of dance. The goal is to create a uniform platform for dance education, thereby allowing greater professional mobility for dancers.
A website with events such as: festivals, competitions, workshops, classes, books, performances classified according to country, region, city.
Digital books available free of charge.
A sum of at least 500 euros is offered to young persons towards studying in another country for a short period.
Introducing to dance schools the notion of a curriculum. Dance classed should be complemented with other subjects like dance history, anatomy, music etc.
Numerous other projects are conducted on a regional scale by CID Sections.
